BANESEED 0.3 and call for testers
TLDR
Looking for some testing and feedback to decide if I should continue work on this project or move on to other things.
Longer Story
Initially, BANESEED was a simple idea I wanted to explore over the course of a couple weekends. However new ideas continued to emerge.
It’s been a few months since the last update, and I’ve been trying various directions (including making a prototype that was rhythm-based). However I was getting pulled in to many directions and decided instead to focus on one core feature I knew I wanted: additional weapons.
With the release of this version, I hope that I’ll be able to gauge whether there is interest to continue developing it.
How You Can Help
I would appreciate testing and feedback on:
- Lower end computer performance
- Boss weapon balance
- TEK mechanic, new weapon balance. What is useful, what is not, etc.?
- Finally, if you enjoy BANESEED or like the direction it’s going, please leave a comment and a rating, and share it with someone else you think might enjoy it. I get a lot of motivation from knowing people are enjoying it. Also, if it’s worth a beer to you, leave a tip, it’s definitely appreciated.
Big Changes
- Added TEK, which is a resource that can be collected by hitting enemies with your primary weapon.
- Added new weapons that use TEK as ammunition:
- EMP: Hold to charge, release to damage everything in a small radius. Good for torpedo defense.
- Siphon: The next generation of the old energy siphon. Has 3 arcs that damage enemies while regenerating your shields.
- Seekers: Swarming seeker missiles.
- Laser: A huge laser. Immobilizing while firing, but deals high damage per second.
- Coil Gun: A helical gun that travels through multiple enemies/boss segments until exiting.
- These weapons use TEK for ammunition.
- Removed Teleport ability. It was difficult to use with a controller and I felt it ran contrary to the mechanic of navigation I’m trying to build.
- Added Shield Drones which can be destroyed to remove the Boss’ shield.
- Dramatically decreased the size of the player hitbox
Smaller Changes
- Since some weapons can penetrate armors now, boss cannot be damaged until at least one shell armor is destroyed.
- Nerfed torpedo farming. You can no longer continually shoot down torpedoes for shield capsules.
- Added Storage Tanks as destructible “loot chests”. Always give you something nice :)
- Removed Seekers as a boss weapon because you could not dodge or destroy them, and that’s not fun.
- Added some new boss weapons (mines, morning star).
- Renamed Energy to Shield for clarity.
- Added a background effect.
- Updated tutorial.
- Added option to show visual indicator for player hitbox.
- Increased energy capsule pickup radius.
- Player acceleration option. Players may find this useful for making smaller movements when using the keyboard. Recommended setting OFF.
- Fixed many bugs.
